Green tea and Oolong tea both of these teas are considered as healthy liquid beverages for the human body. Drinking either of these teas in the morning and evening regularly for a longer period, will definitely reward you with some amazing health benefits.
So, it would not be a bad idea to make a habit of drinking either of these teas. But you have to choose one between Green tea and Oolong tea as you can’t make the habit of drinking both of them at the same time. So, the question is which tea to drink-“Green or Oolong”?


In case of choosing one between two similar kind of things, obviously you are going to choose the better one. So, you might be thinking which is the best “Green tea or Oolong tea”.
Well, it would not be right to say Green tea is better than Oolong tea or Oolong tea is better than Green tea. Because both of these teas contain same kind of
antioxidants and can provide almost similar kind of health benefits.
But in case of some particular benefits Oolong is considered better than Green tea and Green is considered better than Oolong tea. If you know which tea is better in providing what benefits then it would be easier for you to choose the right tea. This is what I am going to explain in the rest of the article:
In case of reducing the chances of developing type II Diabetes- Oolong tea is considered better than Green tea. Several studies have done to find out the efficacy of Oolong tea on type II Diabetes patients. In one study conducted in Taiwan, stated that regular consumption of Oolong tea can reduce the chances of devoloping type II Diabetes as Oolong tea proved to be effective in lowering the levels of Plasma glucose and fructosamine.
In case of reducing LDL levels- Green tea is considered better than Oolong tea. Both in human and animal based studies proved that Polyphenols in green tea reduced the level of bad cholesterol (LDL) and increased the level of good cholesterol (HDL). Reduction in LDL levels means you have lower chances of cardiovascular diseases.
In case of stress management- Oolong tea works better than Green tea. L-theanine is an amino acid, found naturally in Oolong tea stimulates the production of alpha brain waves, and increased in alpha brain waves lead to reduce depression and also increase creativity. The Osaka Institute for health care sciene states that Oolong tea helps reducing stress levels by as much as 18 percent.
In case of losing fatty liver- Green tea is more effective than Oolong tea. Building up too much fat in liver causes fatty liver and it can lead to many diseases and health problems. Eating foods that falls in the category monounsaturated fats, whey protein, soluble fiber and drinking green tea

In case of Preventing tooth decay- Oolong tea is better than Green tea. One of the antioxidant compound of Oolong tea called -Polyphenol prevents tooth decay as well as strengthens teeth by reducing the growth of cavities. Do you know Most of the people in Southern China are habited to drink a cup of Oolong tea after meals for a better digestion and protecting their teeth from damage.
In case of weight lose- Green tea is proved to be more effective than Oolong tea. So many researches and studies have been done to find out Green tea effects on weight loss and it is proved by both researches and studies that Green tea promotes weight loss by boosting metabolism, improving fat oxidation and burning fats from abdominal area. If you checkout the ingredients list of any well known weight loss pill, you will definitely find Green Tea Extract on the list.
In case of above mentioned benefits one may be better than the other but in case of some other benefits like protecting skin from damage, aging, wrinkles, increasing energy levels and lowering the risk of various types of cancer, improving brain function both are considered same.
Take Some Note: Both Green and Oolong tea naturally contain antioxidant compounds and antioxidant has great effect on diseases like cardiovascular disease, type II diabetes and cancer. Remember drinking Green or Oolong tea for a longer period, can only reduce the risk of developing these diseases in your body but can’t cure these diseases for sure.
Also Remember: Oolong tea contains higher amount of caffeine than green tea, so if you are sensitive to caffeine then it would be better if you choose green tea. Caffeine is not a bad thing, it can benefit you in many ways unless you are sensitive to it and take it too much. Excessive intake of caffeine can lead to headache, increased in blood pressure, anxiety etc.
That’s why don’t drink more than 3 cups a day, better would be if you take 2-3 cups a day.
